How the list was made
One test: is there somewhere to enter notes? A tool that only takes a prompt, lyrics, or a hum will write its own tune. Every tool on the main list has a piano roll or a score, and sings what is in it. Prices and free tiers come from each vendor's own site as of September 26, 2026.
1. Mozarella (ours)
Browser. Free to compose, one free sung take, vocals from $19 a month. Twenty-plus voices, or a clone of yours.
Set the key and chords, write the melody in the piano roll or edit the one it proposes, type lyrics under the notes, pick a voice, and the take plays inside the arrangement. Voices span pop, classical, character, and folk. Premium can clone your own voice from a short recording. A free account gets one sung take to hear it work. Try it free.
You cannot edit pitch curves note by note, and there is no MIDI import. A melody that already lives in a DAW gets retyped here, or sung by a desktop tool below.
2. Synthesizer V Studio 2
Windows, macOS, VST, AU, AAX. $99 editor, $149 with one voice, $79 per extra voice. No free edition.
Producers use it on released records. Draw or import the melody, type lyrics on the notes, then edit pitch, tension, and breath. Studio 2 Pro shipped in March 2025, and January 2026 added choir packs at $149. Cost grows voice by voice, and so does the learning curve. No voice cloning.
3. ACE Studio
Windows, macOS, plus a DAW bridge plugin. Artist $16.58 a month, Artist Pro $22, billed yearly. No free tier listed.
The largest library: over 140 voices in eight languages, voice cloning on every plan, and rendering metered by monthly credits. ACE Studio 2.0 (December 2025) added AI instruments and generation tools around the vocal editor. Desktop only; there is no browser version. You bring finished MIDI, it handles the singing with deep control over the performance. Pay for two years and the license is yours.
4. Vocaloid 6
Windows, macOS, VST3, AU, iOS editor. Editor $225 with 25 voices, starter packs from $243. 31-day full trial.
The tool that named the category. The editor now bundles twenty-five voices, and a free Editor Lite ships with any single voicebank, such as Hatsune Miku V6 (March 2026) at $78. The sound stays more stylized than Synthesizer V, which is what a Vocaloid record is for. The iOS editor is $3.99 a month. No Vocaloid 7 exists as of September 2026.
5. Emvoice One
VST, AU, AAX plugin, cloud rendering. Plugin free, voices about $99 each, owned outright. Eight-note demo range per voice.
Lives inside Logic, Ableton, or Reaper. Type lyrics onto MIDI notes and the vocal renders on the track. Five voices, licensed one at a time, no subscription. The right answer when the song already lives in a DAW session. Rendering needs an internet connection.
6. VoiSona
Windows, macOS, iOS, VST3, AU. Free with one voice; other voices ¥880 a month or ¥13,200 to own.
Techno-Speech's singer and the cheapest serious option. The editor and the Chis-A voice are free; around forty libraries rent monthly or sell outright. Japanese-first; check the library list for your language before committing.
7. NEUTRINO
Windows, Linux, browser alpha. Free.
Freeware singing synthesis that reads a MusicXML score with kana lyrics, so it suits Japanese lyrics and notation-first writers. Seventeen characters. A browser version, Neutrino Orbit, entered alpha in August 2026.
8. CeVIO AI
Windows 11 only. Song editor ¥10,780, voices ¥10,780 to ¥26,680. No trial.
The older sibling of VoiSona from the same company, with its own catalog of song voices and steady updates through 2026. Worth it for a specific voice you want; otherwise VoiSona gets you there cheaper.
The ones that will replace your melody
Suno. v6 arrived in September 2026 and Suno Studio 2.0 in August, a browser DAW with MIDI import. The MIDI steers a generation; Suno's own guidance says the result will not reproduce it note for note. Add Vocals writes its own topline over your lyrics, and the v5.5 Voices feature copies your timbre, not your tune. The free tier gives 50 credits a day and seven downloads for life, and Suno owns those songs. Pro is $10 a month, Premier $30, and Studio needs Premier.
Udio. Downloads have been off since the Universal deal in October 2025 and remain off. No MIDI input. Plans around $10 and $30 a month.
ElevenLabs Eleven Music. Prompt, lyrics, and a short audio reference that shapes style only. Free for personal use; commercial use from $6 a month.
Mureka. Prompt or lyrics; a hum sets the voice's timbre, not the melody.
Voice conversion: Kits AI, RVC. A different job. Sing the line yourself, and they keep your pitch and timing while swapping the voice. Kits AI gives 15 free minutes, then $10 a month and up. RVC is free and runs locally. If you can carry the tune, this is the cheap route; if you cannot, you are back to the main list.

Can Suno Studio sing my exact melody now?
Not exactly. Suno Studio 2.0 (August 2026) imports MIDI, but Suno's own guidance says a generation will not reproduce the MIDI note for note. It steers the result. If the notes matter, use a singing voice synthesizer from the main list.
Which of these are free?
NEUTRINO is free. VoiSona is free with one voice. Vocaloid 6 has a 31-day full trial, and Emvoice's plugin is free with an eight-note demo range per voice. Mozarella is free to compose in, with one sung take on a free account.
Do I need to read music?
No. Every tool here uses a piano roll: click in notes, type lyrics under them. NEUTRINO is the exception and wants a MusicXML score.
Which one sounds most human?
Synthesizer V Studio 2, given time on the pitch and tension curves. ACE Studio is close with far more voices. Vocaloid is deliberately stylized. Mozarella is built for the demo stage, so the song can be judged before anyone books a singer.
Can any of them sing in my own voice?
ACE Studio clones on every plan, Mozarella clones from a short recording in premium, and Kits AI converts a take you sang into another voice. Synthesizer V has no cloning. Vocaloid's Vocalo Changer converts sung audio rather than cloning.
